Monte Clavijo
These are the Joven, or Young, wines in the range. They spend no time in oak and are fresh, fruity examples of the key Rioja grapes, perfect for simple, relaxed drinking occasions:
White: Monte Clavjio Viura Joven (100% Viura)
Red: Monte Clavijo Tinto Joven (100% Tempranillo)
Rose: Monte Clavijo Rosado Joven (100% Garnacha)
Castillo de Clavijo
The Castillo de Clavijo wines are wonderful examples of the traditional styles of wines, often blended and aged in oak, but made with all the latest winemaking techniques and expert knowledge from around the world. These are delicious, approachable and balanced wines:
White:
Castillo de Clavijo Barrel Fermented Viura (90% Viura, 10% Malvasia)
Barrel fermentation brings out exotic fruit, vanilla and clove flavours, but this is not aged in oak, so retains great freshness
Red:
Castillo de Clavijo Tempranillo (100% Tempranillo)
This semi-crianza is aged for only 6 months in mainly American oak casks to add an extra dimension to the flavour but retain real red fruit flavours
Castillo de Clavijo Crianza (90% Tempranillo, 10% Garnacha)
Aged for 12 to 18 months in American & French oak casks. The fruit is balanced with vanilla and spice to add richness and body
Castillo de Clavijo Reserva (90% Tempranillo, 10% Mazuelo)
The Reserva is aged for up to 24 months in French and American oak casks to give this wine real complexity, but the ripe, mature fruit is still in evidence
Castillo de Clavijo Gran Reserva (80% Tempranillo, 10% Mazuelo, 10% Graciano)
A Gran Reserva can be aged for up to 36 months in French and American oak casks and made in the best years to create a unique, mellow and complex wine.
